I bring 15 years of leadership experience, including five as a Managing Director of an SME. Delivering strategy, performance and cultural change at the sharp end of business.

From 2020 to 2025, I led a full business reset at IMI Ltd- doubling revenue from £1.7m to £3.8m, rebuilding the senior team from scratch, and embedding a culture of clarity, accountability, execution, and development.

Ultimately I carried the company through the complexities of an M&A transaction in 2025, strengthening valuation and credibility in the process.

I’ve led through complexity, made tough calls, and seen first-hand what separates average leadership from the kind that drives real results.

Why I started Built to Lead

I started Built to Lead because i’ve lived the pressure of leadership. As a Managing Director I carried the weight. I made tough calls, reset the standards, and rebuilt a culture that had lost its edge, and ultimately guided the business all the way to sale. It was the hardest thing I’ve done in my career but it worked.

Unlike many SME MDs who are founders, I was brought in as a non-shareholder. That meant leading under shareholder scrutiny, managing up as well as down, while carrying the full responsibility for culture, people, performance, and results. That experience taught me what it really means to deliver at the top.

What I learned is this: leadership isn’t about titles or charisma, it’s about clarity, accountability, values, and the courage to face what others ignore.

Built to Lead exists to support the kind of leaders who carry it all, often alone. Not with theory. With real-world, experienced support that is sharp, honest, and focused on performance.

I believe development is the ultimate perk for your teams, and once given it can never be taken back.

I also consider non-executive board roles, particularly where strategic clarity, culture and leadership development are on the agenda.
