Leadership is tested in reality, not theory.
Leadership is tested when things aren’t easy. It’s not about titles or authority, it’s about how you respond when pressure, pace, and people all collide. The best leaders I have seen don’t rise because of perfect systems or flawless plans (we all know how that goes), they rise because they are steady, clear, and consistent when others lose focus.
I started Built to Lead to help leaders operate at that level. So that clarity, accountability, and performance become second nature.
This page will share reflections, insights, and lessons from the sharp end of leadership. What’s working, what isn’t, and what great really looks like in practice.

I was invited to sit down with Simon Marshall to talk about leadership, culture and the pressure of performance when I was the Managing Director of IMI Ltd

Leadership Clarity Matters
October 2025
One of the biggest challenges I see in organisations, no matter the size or industry, is a lack of clarity.
Clarity of accountability. Clarity of priorities. Clarity of strategy. The list goes on.
Strong leadership brings things back into focus… Clear accountability, clear priorities, clear strategy.
Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing short insights and reflections on how leaders can cut through noise and bring that clarity back into their teams. Once clarity improves, performance always follows.
